Catherine Anne was born in Kingston, Oregon to Joseph and Apolonia (Pietrok) Brand. She grew up in the area and then moved to Portland where she worked at a Pastry Shop. She joined the Army-Air Force in 1942 and was discharged as a Staff Sergeant in 1946. She returned to the Portland area and purchased the Bakery that formerly employed her. She met and married Herman Vandecoevering in 1962 and they moved to Stayton where they built a home. Catherine spent many precious hours

LOREN L. STROHMEYER

STAYTON –Loren was born at Flagler, Colorado on the 4th of Jan. 1921. He passed away on Friday Aug. 6th at Salem. He was 89. The son of Dana and Lois Strohmeyer. Loren grew up in Colorado, then serving in the US Army during WWII as a Rifleman, spending much of the time behind enemy lines performing the job of forward observer locating the enemy and directing Big Gun fire. Opal I. Spenner

Opal was born in Bristow, Oklahoma to William T. and Louella Belle Morgan. She was the youngest of 17 children. Opal worked at the Stayton Cannery, Paris Woolen Mill and Santiam Memorial Hospital for 19 yrs. She enjoyed flowers and gardening and cooking.
Opal was preceded in death by her 16 brothers and sisters; her first husband, Delbus Whisenhunt in 1953; she married Benjamin Spenner in 1956 and he passed away in 1998; also a son, Raymond in 2002.

SUBLIMITY – With her family by her side, Barbara Carol Church passed away on July 24, 2010 after a two-year battle with cancer. Born on May 28, 1957, to Joseph and Cordelia Weber, she grew up one of eight children in Villa Park, Illinois. Upon graduation from Willowbrook High School in 1975, she enlisted in the U.S. Army, and was the first woman from the post in Ft. Riley, Kansas to be accepted by West Point Preparatory School.
