November 2, 1924 – April 27, 2012
Dorthy passed away peacefully on Friday. She was “Grandma” to everyone. Kindness, loving and Grandmotherly was how she treated all. Dorthy loved animals, doll collecting, the Royal family and cooking. She was known for her homemade noodles. Anyone could stop by her house anytime for a cup of coffee and a sweet treat, no knocking necessary, the door was always open. A yearly trip to the State Fair was never missed. From sun up to sun down she wouldn’t miss an animal or an exhibit. She was born in Neosho, MO to Bill and Daisy Rogers and spent her early years in Joplin, Missouri. There she married and raised a family. She worked as a nurses assistant at St. Johns Hospital during this time. In 1962 the family moved to Salem, OR. where she continued to work as a nurses assistant at Salem Hospital where she retired.
She was preceded in death by her husband Orval of 54 years (He always called her ‘Red’) and son Charlie. She is survived by sons; Garry, Greg, Randy and Ronnie, Eight grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. she will be missed by all who knew her. Graveside services will be Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. at Belcrest Memorial Park Cemetery in Salem. Arrangements by Weddle Funeral Services.
