Marilyn Raye Baarstad
December 5, 1945 ~ June 19, 2010
Marilyn lost her hard fought battle with cancer at 4:50 p.m. on June 19, 2010. She passed away at home with her loved ones at her side. She leaves behind her husband Dale, son Michael, daughters Kim and April, her parents Ray and Opal and brother Arlie, two granddaughters and one great granddaughter.
Marilyn retired from the Department of Agriculture with over twenty five years service. She was the food safety office manager. She loved her family and friends and was always there to help.
At her request, there will be no services, just remember her as she was.

So sorry to hear about Marilyn’s passing. I worked with her for many years at the Department of Agriculture, she was a great lady. My deepest sympathies to all of the family.
I worked with Marilyn for many years at the Department of Agriculture. She was fun and had such a kind heart. May you take comfort in knowing God now has her in His home where there is no more pain, only love.
Picture of Marilyn and Dale looks pretty good. Sorry to hear about the news -last time I saw you both was downtown Las Vegas – and of course that story stays in Vegas. This May makes 12 years that I’ve been away from the Dept of Ag, but I still have many happy memories of working with you both – good luck to the Baarstad family
I worked with Marilyn for a number of years. We sometimes had morning coffee break together, and it was always a lot of fun visiting with her. She was always jovial and full of energy, just a great person to be around. She will be greatly missed. My condolences to the family.
Dear Dale and Family, I am saddened to read about your loss of our Marilyn. She and you and I and many others are all part of the ODA family. Whenever we lose a family member, we are all the less, but we all shared some of Marilyn’s life. She will be missed by many.

I, too, had the pleasure of working with Marilyn. She is a most memorable lady who
contributed significantly to Oregon’s food safety. I will remember her dedication to her work, her positive outlook and her quick wit. Many of us share in your loss and in the comfort of knowing she is at peace. With thoughts and prayers for the Baarstad family.
Oh I remember Marilyn being such a sweet person. Both of her parents came to my Dad’s funeral, I asked about her but definitely do not remember what they said at that time. Gosh, Paul Livesay and many others in our class… l964 WHS … tried to find her, oh was she so sick she couldn’t respond, that’s so sad to me! Woodburn was so sweet and innocent with Marilhn growing up – we were on a softball team in the summer, Marilyn was in the field, I was the catcher, Tony Painter was the pitcher..I think we did indeed win all games.. I still have my mitt! Marilyn, oh how I wish I could have stayed connected to you – but time leads us on so many paths…

I loved Marilyn, she was a good neighbor and friend growing up in a very “innocent” town, Woodburn. We got to share that experience. I am so sorry for her family to have lost her so soon! I am just sure, indeed, she fought a good fight!
I want to make sure her parents know how sad I am for this loss – she was a “swell” daughter and sounds like she has left some “swell” kids… I am so sorry!! Nothing takes away the pain except for “time”..whenever that can happen!
Love you all Dora Ann Ostrom Dodson
This is Kim, Marilyn’s youngest Daughter. Thank you all for all the loving messages. We miss her so terribly but it is comforting to know what an impression she has made on the people in her life, even for many many years ago.
Thank you from our family, Kim, Will, Mike, Charity, Jessica, Opal, Ray and lastly Dale, who cared for her tirelessly and shared a love that I can only hope will be there for me.
Angels do exist…. Just listen and believe.
