I worked with Joyce at The Mansfield Center for Pacific Affairs on the campus of The University of Montana for a couple of years back in the early 90’s. Joyce was a lot of fun to be around, a very hard worker, and she always had a smile on her face.

Joyce was the type of person we refer to as “a giver”. I feel fortunate to have known Joyce. May she rest in peace.

James, I knew your mother and father. Your father was a friend and roommate of a guy I was engaged to when they were college students in Missoula. I was truly sorry to hear of the passing of your mother. She was a very sweet person who loved you so much. The last time I saw her was in 1966 when I moved to Denver. That was the last time I saw you and over the years I have often wondered where you and Joyce were. Your father was very proud to have you in his life. I pray that you have wonderful memories of your mother to hold dear to your heart. Judy Minteer

  • As if it were yesterday……I counted Joyce as my friend, even if we saw each other seldom the last few years. Indeed, she was a pillar of integrity in all things professional, personal, political – and master/mistress extraordinaire of literary content/comment. She was joyful, kind, and fiercely loyal to family and friends. This earthly stage will miss her, everywhere she has been, and those who knew her…..”back in the day”.

Jim, I met your mother in 2003, in Missoula. She graciously allowed me to live with her for 3 months, till my house sold and I got a place of my own. She was a wonderful, kind, loving person and I will never forget her. She spoke often of you, with much love. So sorry for your loss.
    Rita
