Bertha A. Hernandez
June 21, 1919 – Feb. 21, 2010
Born in Mexico, she moved to the United States in 1921. She lived in Texas before moving to Colorado where she graduated from high school and attended Business College. She moved to Nebraska and was married to Domingo in Colorado in 1945 and they made their home in Arizona for over 7 yrs. and California for 3 yrs. before moving to Oregon in 1962. Domingo preceded her in death in 1989.
She became a US citizen at the age of 50 and was a homemaker and farm laborer.
She was a member of the Catholic Church and enjoyed gardening, watching TV, esp. wrestling, sewing, learning about politicians and was an avid voter. She enjoyed making tamales, loving and caring about her family, church and other organizations. Her favorite comedian was Jimmie Durante.
She is survived by her daughters, Cecilia Hernandez of Salem; son, Narciso (JoAnne) Hernandez of Lyons; daughter, Mary Margaret (Randy) Holland of Waldron, Arkansas; sons, Carlos (Anne) Hernandez of Turner and Thomas (Arlene) Hernandez of Monmouth; daughter, Monica Culver of Salem; son, Felix Hernandez of Salem; brother, Rene Diaz of Nebraska; sister, Delia Jimenez of Nebraska; 13 grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren.
Proceeded in death by sons, Antonio and Esteban.
Visitation will be Wed. 1-5pm at Weddle Funeral Chapel, Stayton, OR
Rosary will be Thurs. Feb. 25th at 10:15 am followed by Funeral at 11:00 am at the Immaculate Conception Church in Stayton followed by rite of committal at St. Mary’s Cemetery- Stayton, OR
