GLEN DALE WHITFIELD

 

  

October 24, 1934 – January 24, 2010

Glen Dale Whitfield was born in Lamar, Oklahoma.  His family moved to Turner, Oregon before he began elementary school.  While attending and after graduating from Cascade High School in 1953, he was in the Oregon National Guard (1952-1954). Glen then joined the Navy in 1954, and was based on the USS Montrose for four years.  In 1980 he then re-entered the Navy Reserve for the next fourteen years. In 1958, Glen married Roberta Jane Campbell and they had three children.   He worked as an auto mechanic before becoming a vocational instruction at O.S.C.I.   where he taught until his retirement in 1992.  Throughout his life Glen enjoyed gardening and yard work, reading, camping and waterskiing, spending time with his friends at Perky’s and having barbeques with his children and grandchildren.

Glen is survived by his children Matthew Whitfield, Jennifer Burlison and Cindi Brokaw-Klewitz; grandchildren Jessica Burlison, Erica Whitfield, Adam Burlison, Noah Brokaw, Alyssa Brokaw, Jacob Whitfield and Jonah Brokaw; siblings Junior Whitfield, Rose Herrmann, Robert Whitfield, Louise Wolf, Barbra Whitfield and Charlie Whitfield. He was preceded in death by his parents James and Della Whitfield, and brother W.C. Whitfield. 

Services will be held at Weddle’s Funeral Home in Stayton on Friday-January 29, 2010 at

10:30 a.m.  In lieu of flowers, the family is suggesting donations to Disabled Veterans of America.
