Georgia “Aline” Hightower
March 29, 1927 ~ January 12, 2010
Turner – “Aline” Hightower, 82, of Turner, Oregon, died at Santiam Memorial Hospital
in Stayton on Tuesday of Pneumonia.
she was born in McCalls Creek, Mississippi to George and Annie May (Martin) Nettles with
siblings including brothers Stevie, Charlie, CD and sisters Dorothy and Eloise, the family lived in
Mississippi, later moving to Louisiana. In 1944, Aline married first husband John Moore and had sons
Larry in 1946 and Dale in 1954. Aline married her second husband Cornelius “Pete” Hall Hightower
in 1962 and had daughters Kim in 1962 and Terry Edwards in 1964. The family moved from Louisiana
to California and eventually settled in Marion, Oregon.
Aline worked as the cook at Marion Elementary for over 20 years where she made many lifelong friends
and looked forward to helping with the school carnival. She also enjoyed playing bingo and going to
Spirit Mountain to try her luck at the slot machines. Aline will be forever remembered for her beautiful
smile, her kind heart and her wonderful cooking skills. She often brought her famous banana pudding
dessert to gatherings and was praised for her delicious bread rolls throughout the community. When
you met Aline, you were greeted with a warm embrace and instantly felt like you’d known her for years.
To her loved ones, Aline was known as “MoMo.” She was a very affectionate and loving woman who
treasured her time with her family, especially her grandson Nick, with whom she enjoyed great
companionship. She leaves behind her surviving sister Eloise of Penson, Alabama, her own
children including son Larry Moore and his wife Carol of Monroe, Louisianna, son Dale Moore and his wife Marcy of Marion, Oregon daughter Kim Scuito of Turner, Oregon and daughter Terry Edwards and her husband Eric of Turner, Oregon. MoMo is also survived by her 6 Grandchildren, Brian, John, Kenny,
Nick, Shane and Colton, and 9 Great-Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Pete,
brothers Stevie, Charlie and CD, sister Dorothy, and grandson Bobby.
the family would like to invite all her friends and neighbors to a Funeral Services at 2:00 p.m.
January 16th at Weddle Funeral Services in Stayton, Oregon, with the gravesite immediately following
in Jefferson, Oregon. Friends and Family are invited back to Dale and Marcy Moore’s house at 6228 Stayton Rd.
