<p>Bertha E. Reis, went peacefully home to be with her Lord, Friday, July 23, 2010.  Bertha was born in Tripp, S. Dakota, August 9, 1914 to William and Emilie Kindopp.  Bertha married William (Bill) Reis on October  9, 1935 in Kimball, S. Dakota.  They lived in Parmalee, S. Dakota until the fall of 1940 when they moved to the Stayton area with their two small children.  Bill and Bertha helped establish Calvary Lutheran Church in 1946. <p>Of Norwegian stock, Harold (Hal) Emil Grimstad was born July 8, 1922 in North Bend, Oregon to Edvard and Hansine Grimstad.  In 1938 Hal graduated from Roosevelt High School in Seattle and went to work for the Seattle Telephone Company.  Shortly thereafter he joined the U.S. Navy.  As a Chief Petty Officer he was trained in radar and electronics at Texas A &#38; M.  He served in the Pacific, mostly in the Philippines from 1942-1945.</p>

<p>Mary Schiewek, 94, Garrison, formerly of Balfour and Minot, died Saturday, July 10, 2010 at a Garrison hospital.  Funeral services will be held at Weddle Funeral Service in Stayton, OR on Saturday, July 17 at 4:30 p.m.  Burial will be at Fox Valley Cemetery in Lyon, OR.</p>
<p>Mary was born on July 30, 1915 at Balfour, ND to Peter and Rosina (Drexel) Mock.  She was raised and educated in Minot, ND.  On January 27, 1940 she married Max Barlow.  Max died December 5, 1947.</p>

She leaves behind her husband Dale, son Michael, daughters Kim and April, her parents Ray and Opal and brother Arlie, two granddaughters and one great granddaughter.</p>
<p>Marilyn retired from the Department of Agriculture with over twenty five years service. She was the food safety office manager. She loved her family and friends and was always there to help.</p>
