Alan L. Girod was born in Salem, OR to Lloyd D. and Elsie M. (Rose) Girod. The family lived in the Fruitland area and attended school there. After several moves the family eventually settled in Idanha in 1946 living in a tent house before moving to the CCC Camp. Born in Mills, Nebraska Sharon moved to Canby as a child and then to Portland where she graduated from Roosevelt High School. She built a successful career becoming a supervisor at Leupuld & Stevens, where she worked for 22 years. She married Alfred Hand on April 16, 1982. Upon retirement they built a home together at the Coast and moved there in 1990. She was an avid reader and enjoyed reading about the lives of pioneer women. Catherine Anne was born in Kingston, Oregon to Joseph and Apolonia (Pietrok) Brand. She grew up in the area and then moved to Portland where she worked at a Pastry Shop. She joined the Army-Air Force in 1942 and was discharged as a Staff Sergeant in 1946. She returned to the Portland area and purchased the Bakery that formerly employed her.
